How to Store and Cherish Luxury Bags

Cleaning
Before moving your precious handbags away, the first step is actually cleaning. Dust, dirt, or makeup stains can damage the materials.
So, wiping the inside and outside of the handbag with a soft, damp cloth is a good start. For leather bags, I recommend to avoid using harsh chemicals and instead opt for a leather conditioner or cream made for these materials. Suede bags may also require some additional investment, such as a gentle brush or suede cleaner, as they are even more delicate in texture and structure.
Filling
Luxury bags are expensive mainly because of the brand tag, but they are also made from higher-quality materials in most cases. These materials may still lose their shape over time—especially soft leather and suede!
Without their original structure and shape, handbags lose a significant amount of value. So, when not in use, filling handbags with soft materials such as tissue paper or clean fabric is a stellar idea. Overstuffing is equally dangerous, though, so just enough is key.
Using dust bags
Luxury handbags also come in their original dust bags, and for a good reason. These dust bags protect against dust as well as mold since they allow airflow.
Keeping handbags in their dust bags—ideally the original ones—is essential for better storage. Of course, if you are intending to sell a handbag, having the dust bag is another plus since it is proof of authenticity and shows that the handbag has been in good hands.
Storing in a cool, dark, and dry place
Just like dust, direct sunlight is also an enemy of luxury bags. It can cause colors to fade over time, especially if exposed for long periods. Storing your bags in a cool and dark place will help prevent discoloration and preserve quality.
