How to Style a Skort in Winter

I have always loved skorts and am cheering heavily for the strong comeback we’ve been witnessing over the last few seasons. Not just for tennis or summer outfits, skorts can easily transition into fall and winter wardrobes with the good old power of layering.

Using one pair of black skorts (from Zara in this case) and a classic wool coat as constants, I’d like to present five outfit ideas to prove that skorts are for all seasons.

1. All-Black Sophistication

For a timeless, monochromatic look, pair your skorts with a thick cable-knit black wool sweater. To keep warm, add thermal tights and complete the outfit with casual leather riding boots.

The famous black Arket handbag ties everything together, offering daily practicality and minimalistic charm. Cozy and effortless—ready for a stroll!

For particularly cold days, or to level it up further, you can add another layer of merino wool under the sweater and a black wool scarf—my all-time favorite would be from Acne Studios for both.

2. Office Attire with a Layered Twist

Wearing a turtleneck sweater under a shirt is a total game changer in winter—creating a stylish look and providing warmth at the same time.

I start with a black merino wool turtleneck as a base layer for warmth. Over this, I wear a well-cut white shirt, such as one from Toteme, leaving a few buttons undone for a relaxed but polished look.

I pair this with black leather ankle boots for a sleek finish, and carry a Longchamp black leather Le Pliage to fit my laptop easily.

Depending on the temperature and personal preference, you can definitely choose the thickness of tights. Thermal tights or even 20-denier tights work equally beautifully.

3. Creamy Winter Whites

A cream-colored turtleneck immediately brightens the mood and the outfit. As usual, wool is a far better choice, and Filippa K has some amazing beige and cream sweaters made from 100% wool, as seen in the set here.

Besides the wool top, I prefer structured handbags and shoes to maintain the refined silhouette—such as the Bottega Veneta handbag and hard leather riding boots.

4. Minimalist Glam with Gold Accents

What I really love about versatile pieces is the opportunity to create a completely different vibe with small touches—yes, talking about Mary Janes here.

Same skorts, same coat—but I added a black round-neck sweater, gold jewelry, and a Miu Miu handbag to complement the gold accents. Then, the classic leather Mary Janes bring a vintage-meets-modern vibe to the outfit.

For a twist or to level up your game, you can also opt for ribbed socks or even printed socks, like leopard print.

5. Grey Tones with Subtle Texture

Echoing the vibe from the creamy winter whites, this outfit swaps the warm tones for cooler grey hues—offering another take on winter minimalism.

The grey wool sweater adds texture and brings a wintery contrast to the black skorts. Paired with tights, casual leather riding boots, and a Bottega Veneta handbag once again, I think the look balances practicality and sophistication.

The neutral palette creates a different mood—perfect for colder days when you want to stay warm and sleek.

Final words on skorts

Skorts may not scream winter at first glance, but with a bit of creativity (and thermal tights!), I love wearing them all seasons.

With a pair of black skorts and a black wool coat as the base, it is quite easy to create completely different yet sleek winter looks.
